The government and development partners have committed GHS 2.9 billion to boost the agriculture sector and enhance food security in Ghana.

This investment will primarily fund the flagship Feed Ghana program under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

The program aims to;

  • Improve Agricultural Productivity: Enhance crop yields and livestock production through modern farming techniques and technology.
  • Promote Agribusiness: Support entrepreneurship and business growth in the agricultural sector.
  • Increase Food Security: Ensure availability and accessibility of nutritious food for all Ghanaians.

Some key initiatives under this program include

  • Irrigation for Wealth Creation: Develop and rehabilitate irrigation infrastructure to support all-year-round farming, targeting 10,000 hectares in eight regions.
  • Feed Ghana Programme: Focus on agricultural modernization, agribusiness development, and job creation.
  • Public-Private Partnerships: Encourage private sector investment in agriculture through collaborative frameworks and value chain development.

Development partners contributing to this effort include

  • Canadian International Development Agency
  • World Bank
  • Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
