The Ghana Education Service has suspended the Headmaster of Nkwanta Senior High School, Solomon Sarpong Bagmae, with immediate effect.
The suspension follows his unauthorized engagement with the media, where he solicited public support for feeding students taking the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
The GES has described this action as inappropriate and has launched an independent investigation into the matter.
Key Points:
- Allegations: Bagmae engaged in unauthorized media engagement and solicited public support without prior approval
- GES Response: The service has denied claims of a surge in candidate numbers contributing to a shortage of food supplies, calling it a “blatant lie”
- Investigation: An independent probe will be conducted to investigate the matter
- Directives: Bagmae has been instructed to:
- Cease all official duties
- Refrain from making public statements on the issue
- Hand over school property and administrative responsibilities to the Regional Director of Education
The GES has expressed concern that Bagmae’s actions were an attempt to create a false narrative of government inaction and generate public panic.
Further instructions will be communicated in due course.
