Shatta Wale (Ghanain Dancehall artist)
Dancehall artist Shatta Wale, known as Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has successfully fulfilled the updated bail conditions set forth by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) and has been released to return home.
The bail amount was initially set at GH¢10 million but was subsequently revised to GH¢5 million, accompanied by the requirement of two sureties.
By approximately 6:30 pm, it was confirmed that Shatta Wale had met the necessary conditions for his release. Earlier in the day, EOCO issued a statement indicating that Shatta Wale had been taken into custody while the sureties were in the process of being verified to ensure compliance with the bail requirements.
He was invited to EOCO’s offices to assist with an investigation concerning the purchase of a Lamborghini Urus, which has reportedly been linked to a significant crime involving a Ghanaian individual, Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving a prison sentence in the United States.
During the inquiry, which lasted nearly four hours, Shatta Wale faced challenges in identifying the seller of the vehicle.
He indicated that he had acquired it from “the street” and mentioned a person referred to as “ZAK,” who may have contacted him via WhatsApp; however, he could not provide further details and had since discarded the contact information.
EOCO noted that he did not possess any receipts or transfer documents to demonstrate ownership of the vehicle, apart from a customs declaration document that references Nana Kwabena Amuah.
