West Ham United Vice Chair, Karren Brady, has shared insights regarding the departure of Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus, attributing part of the decision to his performance during the 2024-2025 season.

In a recent interview with TalkSport, Brady discussed the rationale behind the club’s transfer of Kudus to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for £55 million on a six-year deal.

She emphasized the importance of adhering to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in today’s football landscape, suggesting that these financial considerations influenced the club’s approach. Brady noted,

“The financial constraints and the PSR, alongside the various regulations governing football, necessitate that clubs engage in strategic trading.

This is a common practice across the league. The decision made was based partly on the assessment that Kudus did not quite meet his potential during the last season with us.

We felt it was appropriate to explore other opportunities.” In his first season with West Ham, Kudus was recognized as a strong contender for the Player of the Season award, finishing in second place.

However, during his second season, he recorded three assists in 32 league appearances prior to his move to Tottenham.

In an encouraging debut for Spurs, Kudus showcased his talent by registering two assists in a 3-0 victory over Burnley.
