Concerned Drivers have expressed gratitude to national executives and the parent organization, GPRTU of TUC, for speaking out about the poor condition of the Amasaman-Nsawam Highway.

In a statement released by the Regional Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana on 19th August, 2025, they indicated that this stretch of road has posed significant challenges for drivers, impacting our finances, vehicle maintenance, and overall safety over the years.

The road has become a nightmare for commuters, with its deplorable state causing traffic congestion, vehicle breakdowns, and frustration for drivers and passengers alike.

The road’s condition has led to heavy traffic, particularly when it rains, making driving extremely difficult and dangerous.

Drivers have reported frequent breakdowns due to the road’s poor state, with some sections having deep potholes and crumbling surfaces.

The road’s condition has affected businesses, transportation of goods, and access to health services, with some commercial drivers taking advantage of the situation to charge exorbitant fares.

PRESS RELEASE
19th August, 2025

Regional Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (RC-DAG)

AMASAMAN-NSAWAM HIGHWAY

The Regional Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (RC-DAG) commends our National Executives and our mother union, the GPRTU of TUC, for boldly raising their voices on the deplorable state of the Amasaman–Nsawam Highway.

For years, this stretch of road has drained our pockets, damaged our vehicles, and endangered countless lives.

Enough is enough we cannot continue to bear the cost of government neglect.

We fully support the planned demonstration and call on the government to take immediate and concrete steps to fix this highway.

We are, however, deeply concerned about the sudden posture of New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicators, who, after eight years of silence, now seek to trivialize our genuine concerns.

For years, they ignored our plight, yet today, as drivers and citizens demand accountability, they attempt to reduce this life-and-death matter to political propaganda.

We caution all political communicators: stop playing politics with our lives.

The Amasaman–Nsawam road must be fixed now. Drivers will not be silenced, and we are prepared to intensify our actions until the government listens.
